Club News

Last Thursday, WSX put on the latest Night League event in Boscombe Chine and Gardens and surrounding area. Ian put on a challenging event on a much-extended and improved map, which challenged all competitors, and only 4 people getting all the controls. As usual, there was quite a tussle among the top runners, with Peter coming out on top, followed by James in 2nd place. John Cooke came equal 6th.

On Saturday evening, NWO held another Night League event at Copse Wood – but Rob was only competitor from WSX, coming 12th out of 31.

Sunday saw many WSX members out in the New Forest at the WIM Galoppen at Millersford and Turf Hill. It was a grey, but dry, day (apart from underfoot!) and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Some great top-ten results again: Esk 1st White; Lyra 1st Light Green; Alison Innes (new member) 5th Light Green; Tim 2nd Green; Jolyon 8th Blue; and James 7th Brown. Can I just add that it is great to see a welcome return to competing of Ian Middlebrook (who oversees the Yahoo group) after many years of ferrying offspring to their sporting and other events.

Lots of events coming up in the coming weeks. A list of local ones is here: http://www.wessex-oc.org/wp-content/uploads/post/local-club-events/Feb-March-2018-Dorset-Flier.pdf

As Peter has recently circulated, we could do with some more people for the Sunset and Beyond Relay organised by SOC on Saturday 24th March. We could do with some juniors and females – so please let Peter know if you match either of these categories! It should be a fun event, and the club will pay the entry fees.

Finally, if you attend any event in the future which I am NOT at, can you let me know so that I can report on your result in my ‘Chat’. Thanks.
