A few (foolish?) club members ran in the heat today at the Abingdon Urban event. The setting was lovely – with a pretty walk alongside the Thames and across the weir to the assembly area in the shady meadow.

The results were as follows: Rob Hick 26th/42 M40 (running up a class – and the day after doing a half-marathon!); Ian Sayer – 7th/49 M65 – excellent; John Cook – 18th/46 Men’s Open; Myself – 11th/35 W55+ and Kay Sayer unfortunately mis-punched.

It was worth the trip, in spite of the traffic coming back and we avoided the worst around Ringwood by meandering through the forest roads.

This coming weekend, a few of us are going down to Cornwall for the Caddihoe Chase – which this year actually isn’t a Chase. But it does incorporate the SW Middle and Long Distance Championships; plus an urban event in Camborne. So we should get our money’s-worth!

Here’s a list of all the local events coming up from now until November:

The season really starts to get going now, so get those O-shoes out of the bag!

And don’t forget our AGM/Quiz on Friday, September 15th.
