Spring has sprung and its shorts and teeshirt weather again for us outdoor folks, so Saturday we had our yearly Prizegiving and Social at Queens Park, both WIM and WSX giving the trophies for achievements made during the year. Many members were away so only a couple of pictures above but congratulations to prize winners, always good to have a trophy or two about the place.
Trophy Winners:
Captain’s Trophy (Mens Club Champion) 2018 – John Cook
Sheila Beldowska Trophy (Ladies Club Champion ) 2018 – Lyra Medlock
Ian Horsey Trophy – for the Adult in the club who has made the most progress in 2018 – Alison Innes, pictured above.
Charlie Morton Trophy – for the Junior in the club who has made the most progress in 2018 – Lyra Medlock
Chairman’s Trophy – chosen by the co-Chairmen to be the club member that has made an exceptional contribution to the club during 2018 – Tim Houlder, for all his work on the IT side of things, without which we wouldn’t be able to run our events so smoothly. And for getting the results on the website in record time!
30 something of us had a run around on the new Queens Park map, we had to predict the time it would take us to complete the challenge, the best results of the ‘Naked Score’ event were:
Straight Score
1st – Grace French (WIM) – judging her time for the course to within 4 seconds!
2nd – Tamsin Horsler (WIM) – within 29 seconds
3rd – Alison Innes (WSX) – within 46 seconds
4th – Tracy Crickmore (WSX) – within 56 seconds
All other competitors were more than a minute outside their estimated time for the course (some by as much as 13 minutes!)
Odds and Evens
1st – Lizzie Horsler (WIM) – just under 2 minutes under estimated time
2nd – Jason Falconer (WSX) – 3 mins 52 secs over time
3rd – James Crickmore (WSX) – 5 mins under time.
