Post Event Comments:

Seems like it was only yesterday I was updating the League. Oh, that’s because it was! Results from last nights race at Christchurch are here: http://www.wessex-oc.org/wp-content/uploads/event/wnl10-christchurch/index.html?wp-admin-wsxcache=n The format was excellent in that it was the normal “collect as many as you can within the 60 minutes” but with the twist that if you wanted to go for bonus points then you had to get the two 50 pointers first and last. This added another level of thinking into the equation. Excellent turnout again and a very convivial evening. A 9 day break now before Winchester followed closely by that mad race that is Brighton. If you’ve never done the Brighton race you are missing a treat. Not only is it unique in being a mass start, which leads to all sort of mayhem at the first few controls, but this year you even get a train ride! As for running through the famous ‘Lanes’ with all the Christmas shoppers and pub revellers – well don’t take my word for it, come along.

Updated League attached with some word below. Please publish and circulate widely.

With half the races now completed the Open competition is taking shape: Alan Finlay has increased his lead by 3 points, Alan B now has 7 races done. Rob Finch in forth has only done 5 races and has the best average score. Further down the table James Crickmore is up 11 to 32nd and will be in the mix if he gets to enough events. In the Ladies: Jo beat Becca last night but Becca still leads the League. Tereza has dropped down due to injury and we wish her a speedy recovery. Heather Rumble from SOC is up 11 to 25th is improving and will be in the mix after she gets to 7 races.

The Handicap, as usual at this point, is still very fluid. Rob Hick is up 6 places to 2nd. Alan Kersley is up 4 to 8th with a good score from Christchurch. Best handicap score on the night was Chris Branford who will be in the mix. As will John Cook and Gavin, both tied on the same score last night. Peter Suba and John Oakes both up 8 places will be there or thereabouts when they complete 7 races.

Regards

 Gavin
